Mdonya Old River Camp is situated in the centre of Ruaha National Park, Tanzania's second largest safari park. Here it occupies a wonderful position, secluded among acacia trees and sycamore figs, just a few kilometres from the Mdonya Falls and an exciting 1-2 hour game drive from the nearest airstrip.
Mdonya Old River Camp is a classic East African bush camp, with a relaxed atmosphere and unassuming style. It offers twelve Meru-style tents. The public areas, which include a small library and dining room, are housed within open-sided marquee tents. Game-viewing hides at either end of the camp mean you can watch game in comfort from within the camp grounds, between exploring the Ruaha on game drives.
Despite its relatively simple appearance, Mdonya Old River Camp is a favourite camp of ours, thanks to its unique location, consistently great service, and easy-going atmosphere. It gets all the basics right, and offers a top game-viewing experience in a remote pocket of the Ruaha.
