Abu Camp

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Abu Camp

Abu Camp is hidden away under a canopy of towering African ebony and sycamore fig on a private reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta.

Abu Camp is located in a private 400,000 acre reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Tucked away in a grove of sycamore fig and ebony trees on the edge of a permanent lagoon, the camp boasts one of the most impressive locations of any camp in the Delta.

The rooms and public areas at Abu are all on raised decking, linked by walkways that snake between tall trees. The dining and lounge areas are simply but comfortably furnished, and positioned to make the most of the excellent view of the lagoon.

Abu Camp built its reputation as one of the best camps in Africa for elephant safaris, and this remains the case to this day. There is a herd of 8 resident elephant at Abu, with which you can interact. Day and night game drives, mokoro safaris, and walking safaris are also offered.

Accommodation

There are only six tents at Abu Camp, all located under the tree cover and each with a private deck overlooking the lagoon. The tents are spacious and individually furnished, with en-suite bathroom (shower and bath) and four-poster mahogany beds.

There is also a private villa, the Villa Okavango, located across the lagoon from the main camp and accommodating up to four guests (or a family with children). The villa is separate from the main camp and comes with a private vehicle and guide.

Dining

The dining and lounge tents overlook the lagoon. The food at Abu Camp has always been to a high standard when we've visited, and accompanied by a good selection of wines.
