Set in outer Hoi An amid rice fields and old wooden houses, Ancient House Resort is a stylish boutique hotel at the heart of which is a 200 year old home. Its design reflects the traditional architecture of old Hoi An, right down to the smallest details—the clay-tiled roofs, wooden rafters and lantern-lit corridors are all quintessential Hoi An.
Hoi An Ancient House Resort offers a similar blend of traditional décor and modern amenities to the best boutique hotels in Hoi An. However it is larger than the more centrally-located guesthouses and offers better facilities, including a pool and small spa. Ancient House lacks a bit of Vinh Hung’s character—the rooms, for instance, though beautifully furnished, are all more or less identical—but the facilities and tranquil location help make up for this.
You can walk into the town centre from Ancient House Resort (approx. 20 mins), but a taxi/tuk-tuk is more practical. A (somewhat irregular) shuttle service is also provided.
Accommodation
Hoi An Ancient House’s 52 rooms are decorated with dark wooden furniture offset against crisp, white fabrics. They all open onto private balconies/terraces with a view of the town or garden. Amenities include air conditioning, satellite TV, in-room safe and Wi-Fi (intermittent).
Dining
Hoi An Ancient House Resort has two restaurants - one set indoors on the top floor of the main house and the other on the terrace by the pool - with both serving a good selection of Vietnamese and Western cuisine.
