Situated just outside of the Bagan archaeological zone, this high-end resort offers 114 villas spread across 11 hectares of manicured gardens. It is one of the largest resorts in the Bagan area, and while it lacks a bit in character, it offers generally excellent service and facilities. Rates at the Aureum Palace are very reasonable for a hotel of this category, particularly if you book your stay here in conjunction with one of the other hotels in the Aureum chain, such as Aureum Inle.
Accommodation
There are 114 villas at Aureum Palace Bagan—with more added seemingly every year—divided across five categories. Aureum’s villas differ mostly only in size and view, not facilities. The standard rooms are spacious and attractively furnished, with hand-carved teak furniture, local textiles and artefacts for decoration. Amenities include air-con, room safe, tea/coffee facilities, television and Wi-Fi. A number of the higher category rooms have private plunge pools. All of the rooms have a private terrace, some with a view of the temples.
Dining
The Aureum offers a good selection of restaurants and bars. The main dinner venue is the Xanadu restaurant, which serves European and Burmese cuisine in a smart but relaxed setting, with a view of the surrounding temples.
