A classic tropical beach getaway, Baraza Beach Resort & Spa occupies a wonderful spot on Bweju Beach - one of the top 30 beaches in the world according to Condé Nast - on the south-eastern coast of Zanzibar.
The resort is a perfect retreat for honeymooners and weary safari-goers, thanks to its beautiful beach. It's also a good choice for those wanting to explore the best of Zanzibar's sights, such as Stone Town and Jozani Forest. Baraza operates its own Water Club offering a variety of water sports, with high and low tide activities available.
The local diving is excellent. Guests at Baraza have access to the Rising Sun Dive Centre, the only PADI 5* Gold Palm and National Geographic Dive Centre in Zanzibar. This private diving centre takes only small groups of 6 divers at a time, and allows you access to the most pristine reefs in the archipelago.
Accommodation
A mid-sized resort, Baraza Beach Resort has 30 villas in total, all built in classic Swahili style, with dramatic arches, cement Baraza benches and intricate hand carved decorations. There are 14 one-bedroom villas, 15 two-bedroom villas, and one Preidential two-bedroom villa. All villas feature en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath and walk-in dressing room, living room, TV, CD player, lounge bed, mini bar, large terrace (with beautiful view!), sun loungers, and plunge pool.
The Presidential villa featuers a small kitchenette, private maid and butler, and separate guest washroom.
Dining
The menu, which changes daily, utilises local produce and spices, and emphasises Arabic, Indian, and Swahili flavours
There is an open-air terrace where breakfasts are typically served, beachside lounge bar, and indoor dining room. Lunches are buffet style, with tandoori oven, salad bar, pizza oven, as well as a selection of daily specials. Evening meals are table d'hote (ocasionally buffet) and served in the dining room.
