Buhoma Lodge

Bwindi National Park

Buhoma Lodge

Buhoma Lodge is situated only a few minutes’ drive from the Rangers’ Headquarters in Bwindi’s northern Buhoma Sector, gateway to the primeval forest that houses Africa’s largest remaining population of mountain gorillas.

Buhoma is a small lodge that has been carefully designed to minimise its impact on the environment, employing solar energy for its lighting and hot water. Guests are housed in individual chalets furnished using locally-made pieces. Buhoma enjoys a high elevation with great views of the rainforest from the rooms and communal areas. A cosy fire in the lounge provides warmth in the cool evenings. Staff will take you a hot drink in the morning ensuring a leisurely start to the day.

Accommodation

Buhoma has ten comfortable, ensuite bedrooms set within the forest and furnished in a rustic style. Each is en-suite with hot and cold running water, flush loos and separate bath & shower. Each room opens onto a balcony with a view over the forest canopy. The units are located reasonably close together, though the dense forest helps in maintaining privacy.

Generous meals prepared from local produce are served indoors or out on the terrace when the weather allows.
