Chelinda Lodge is situated in the centre of the high grasslands of the Nyika Plateau, a region which ranks among Africa's most dramatic yet least-visited landscapes. Here, the vast plains extend for miles before ending abruptly at the plateau's steep edges, from where the views defy description.
The sixteen bed lodge – sister property to the older Chelinda Camp – opened in April 2000. Built from timber and stone in log cabin style, it enjoys one of the best views in Africa.
Accommodation
Chelinda Lodge offers eight individual log cabins, each set across two floors. The first floor houses the bedroom and lounge (open-plan), with open log fire and en-suite bathroom (bath and shower), while the second floor contains an additional living area. All cabins open onto a private verandah.
Dining
The catering is of the highest standard. The day starts with a full English breakfast – cooked to your specifications. Lunch is served as a cold buffet or, on full-day activities, as a picnic. Dinner is a 3-course affair served in the lodge dining room (private dining available upon request). Coffee and tea are available throughout the day.
Facilities
The cabins are connected by walkways to the main building, which contains the dining room, logfire lounge, reception and a small curio shop.
