Chintheche Inn is a rustic beach retreat situated on the northern shores of Lake Malawi, just south of Nkhata Bay, from where it overlooks a broad stretch of white sand beach.
Chintheche's small size - just ten rooms - and quiet situation away from the livelier resorts on the southern shores of the lake, make it the perfect spot to retreat to for a few days of rejuvenation at the end of a busy safari itinerary.
There's a good mix of activities available in the local area, both water and land-based. This region of the lake is characterised by its pristine, palm-fringed beaches, isolated fishing villages and patches of lowland tropical forest, and can be explored via a number of a hiking and biking trails.
Accommodation
Chintheche offers ten brightly-furnished double rooms. The amenities are basic - en-suite showers only and ceiling fans rather than AC - but the rooms are attractively furnished and generously sized. Most importantly, they open directly onto the beach!
Dining
The restaurant offers Malawian home-style cooking (and of course a good mix of standard international fare for less adventurous diners), served either in the open-air dining area or, when weather permits, outside overlooking the lake.
Beach barbecues are also offered weekly.
