De Hoek Country Hotel is a 5-star retreat in Magaliesburg. One of the best hotels in the region, it occupies a secluded location in a valley, nestled amid indigenous bush as part of a sprawling farming community. The hotel has won numerous awards for its stylish guest rooms and gourmet restaurant.
The house was built in the early 90s, but it has the appearance of, and is clearly intended to resemble, an old Cape homestead. Like any hotel of this sort, there's an air of artificiality to De Hoek, and some won't like the overly formal presentation and slightly stiff atmosphere. But as far as luxury retreats go, it's one of South Africa's best small hotels. Located one hour from Johannesburg, De Hoek receives a large number of business clients.
