Deception Valley Lodge is a small, family-owned and managed lodge situated on the outskirts of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. It is located within a private reserve (allowing for greater flexibility with regard to game activities than the national park) in an area that offers good game-viewing. The guided walks, led by local Bushman trackers, are a particular highlight. The lodge also overlooks a busy watering hole.
Deception Valley Lodge is a mid-range rather than luxury lodge, offering comfortable accommodation and a homely atmosphere. The lodge is managed directly by owners Gerard and Annelize with help from the local community. The atmosphere is relaxed and the game activities varied.
Accommodation
Deception Valley Lodge offers eight private guest chalets, each of which consists of a twin bedroom, separate lounge and a Victorian style bathroom with an outside shower. All of the rooms have private decks where you can sit and gaze at the Kalahari bush.
Dining
Meals are served communally in the dining room or outside around the boma-fire. The day starts with a light breakfast (cereals, fruit, tea/coffee), followed by a generous brunch on return from the morning activity, afternoon snack, and a three course dinner in the evening.
