Fonda Vela sits in 35 acres of lush gardens, brimming with tropical plants and over 200 species of bird, including toucan, parrot, hummingbird and – the star of the show – the very beautiful resplendent quetzal.
The rooms at Fonda Vela are housed in several buildings, all with wonderful views of the forest canopy. Stained-glass works and paintings by Paul Warren Smith (the original founder) add style and colour to the interior décor. The hotel is the only hotel in this area to have a heated swimming pool and two Jacuzzis, housed beneath a vast atrium.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
