Surrounded by lush tropical flowers, Gibb's Farm overlooks a coffee plantation and verdant hills in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area surround the farm, providing great walking terrain. There are spectacular views from the terraced gardens of the old farmhouse and the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. The farm is near to the village of Karatu, which is midway between Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Gibb's Farm is one of our favourite places to stay in the Crater Highlands. It's a beautiful retreat, a working farm but also a great spot to relax. Rustic and homely.
Accommodation
Gibb's Farm has 9 gorgeous farm cottages and 2 standard rooms, set within pretty gardens. The main facilities - dining and sitting room, lounge, bar, internet cafe and gift shop - are situated in the old farmhouse, which has the character of a well cared for private home, particularly the living area with its roaring fire. Here, guests wake up to fresh coffee, a multitude of flowers and gorgeous views.
Dining
The food is a central part of the experience at Gibb's Farm. It's a working farm, and almost all of the produce used in the cooking comes fresh from the field, meaning it is totally organic and free range.
Breakfast is a generous buffet of cooked eggs and bacon, cereals, breads and cakes. Dinner is a multi-course affair (set menu).
