Honeyguide Mantobeni is located in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, on the border with Kruger National Park, where it nestles in a grove of Tamboti trees overlooking a dry river.
At heart, Mantobeni is a traditional, 'colonial' style safari camp, consisting of 12 tented rooms in a secluded bush setting. The public areas stand out, however, for being a little different. The main building at Mantobeni is a large, almost modernist square building, which opens onto a pool deck. Inside there's a substantial open-air sitting area and bar, and a climate-controlled wine cellar.
Honeyguide Mantobeni is one of two camps in the Manyeleti Reserve, the other being Khoka Moya Camp. Both are run by the same company. Game-viewing at the reserve is generally very good, and much better than it used to be (it was previously a fenced reserve, but with the removal of the fences some years ago there's a good deal of movement of game between the reserve and the Kruger). Walking safaris are offered as well as game drives.
