Situated close to Hanoi’s famous Opera House, the Hotel de l’Opera’s colonial design harks back to the glamour of the Belle Epoque era, while its plush furnishings and bold colours reflect the sensory overload that is modern-day Hanoi.
Hotel de l’Opera’s excellent location in Hanoi’s vibrant French Quarter ensures easy access to the city centre’s shops, restaurants and bars, as well as Hoan Kiem Lake.
Hotel de l’Opera is part of Accor’s MGallery.
Accommodation
Hotel de l’Opera offers 107 generously sized and furnished suites. All of the rooms, from the standard Deluxe rooms to the lavish Presidential Suite, are decked out with the most gratuitous glitz: glass and marble features, royal red velvet walls, Persian rugs, silk drapes and tassels. There's nothing subtle about the Hotel de l’Opera, but it represents a change from the generic "international" decor adopted by so many city hotels.
Within this price bracket, some guests will prefer the altogether more sober style of the nearby Sofitel Legend Metropole, but we love the Hotel de l’Opera for its lively character and theatrical flourishes. That said, the standard category rooms (Deluxe) are a little more understated than the suites, and none the worse for it.
Dining
Mediterranean cooking is served at the brasserie, Café Lautrec, while the sumptuous Satine restaurant offers speciality dishes drawing on flavours from across Vietnam. There’s a lovely central courtyard, which most of the rooms look out onto, where lunch and drinks are served beside the pool.
