Il Moran Camp is a classic African safari camp with a marvellous location in the heart of the Masai Mara. It is part of the Governors portfolio, who are one of the longest-established safari camp operators in Kenya (see our Governors' Main Camp write-up for an overview).
Governors' Il Moran Camp is modelled on the original Governors' Camp (Main Camp), but it is much smaller with only ten tents. It is located close to Main Camp and sister property Little Governors' Camp, with which it shares its drivers/guides and vehicles.
Il Moran Camp is a permanent tented camp and is open all-year round.
Accommodation
Il Moran Camp consists of just 10 tents situated along the banks of the Mara River, each with a private verandah at the front and bathroom en-suite at the back (separate bath and shower, twin basins with hot and cold running water). The tents are spacious and generously furnished, with double beds carved from olive wood as their standout feature. These aren't your traditional lightweight bush tents, but rather large, permanent structures, with tiled bathrooms, wood panelling, and steel frames.
Dining
There's an indoor dining tent - a permanent structure with red terracotta tile flooring - where meals are served. More typically meals are served outside. Full cooked breakfasts are offered (as are bush breakfasts, for those on early game drives), buffet lunches, and four-course dinners, usually with hot soup to start and vegetarian, meat and fish main courses. Dinner may also be served on your private verandah.
There's a fully-stocked bar - local drinks and soft drinks are included.
