Jacana Safari Lodge

Set on the edge of Nyamusingire, Uganda’s largest crater lake, Jacana is a cosy treehouse lodge that blends in beautifully with its natural surroundings.

Set on the edge of Uganda’s largest crater lake, Nyamusingire, this unique treehouse lodge has been built using local woods and materials so as to blend in easily with its forest surroundings. There are just ten chalets at Jacana Lodge, built on raised wooden platforms and tucked away behind the tree canopy, so that from a distance they're barely distinguishable from the forest.

Jacana Safari Lodge's hub is the Virunga Lounge, a cosy living area with sofas grouped around a huge fireplace - this is where drinks are served in the evening and travel stories shared. Outside there is a swimming pool with a 'swim up' bar, and a sauna, perfect for unwinding after a hot and dusty game drive. The atmosphere at Jacana Lodge is relaxed and low-key, in keeping with the peaceful setting.

Accommodation

Jacana Lodge is comprised of ten luxury en-suite chalets and a single family cottage. The rooms are spacious and open onto an enclosed verandah with views over Lake Nyamusingire. Large, full-size windows do credit to the views.

Dining

The lodge offers a variety of dining and bar options, ranging from the Tembo Bar, which literally hangs over the waters of the lake, to special candlelit dinners on the jetty, which is also a popular spot to enjoy a sundowner. Al fresco meals and early morning tea or coffee can be enjoyed on your own private balcony.
