Kanga Expeditions Camp

Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

Kanga Expeditions Camp

Kanga Expeditions Camp is a small bush camp situated in a game-rich private concession of Mana Pools National Park. The camp occupies an excellent location next to the Kanga Pan and Chitake Springs. The Kanga pan is the only source of water in the dry season, making it a veritable haven for wildlife. The surrounding environment consists of open marsh and mixed woodland of mopane trees, wild fig and bushwillow – all fed by tributaries from the Ruckomechi River.

Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its diverse wildlife and unique ecosystems. The name ‘Mana Pools’ (meaning ‘Four Pools’) originates from the Park’s four permanent watering holes, which are central to its reputation as one of the world’s top wildlife destinations.

Kanga is a luxury bush camp that accommodates a limited number of guests in 6 lovely rooms, which include a honeymoon suite and family tent. There is a small plunge pool with loungers. Nearby is a photographic hide where guests can leisurely observe the local residents.

The experienced guides at Kanga know the terrain intimately. Walking safaris, game drives, and night game drives are offered. The park is game rich with good numbers of predators including lion, leopard and wild dog. Other wildlife includes elephants, buffalo, kudu, honey badger, zebra, warthog, baboons, impala, waterbuck and eland. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded here. Hundreds of hippo and crocodiles make their home in the Zambezi River which can be visited on a full day game drive from Kanga camp.

As the only camp in the area a safari here provides a true wilderness experience in a pristine region. A few nights at Kanga Camp combines well with its sister camp, Somalisa Expeditions, located in Hwange National Park, offering a indepth safari to two of Zimbabwe’s best wilderness regions.

Kanga Camp is open April to November.
