King's Pool

King's Pool is one of Botswana's premier camps, as well as one of only a handful of permanent camps situated in the Linyanti region.

One of only a handful of permanent camps situated in the Linyanti region, King's Pool is a highly exclusive retreat designed to accommodate only a small number of guests.

The location of King's Pool is marvellous. The camp overlooks a permanent lagoon in a region of the Linyanti that is frequented by a diversity of wildlife. An important wildlife corridor connecting Chobe National Park to the Okavango Delta, the region is frequented by staggering elephant herds; plentiful antelope, including sable; and a host of predators, with good opportunities for seeing both wild dog and leopard.

And King's Pool makes the most of this location. The main structures at the camp are raised off the ground so as to allow the wildlife to wander freely within the vicinity of the camp, providing wonderful game-viewing opportunities—wildlife-spotting from the comfort of the camp's viewing deck or from the underground hide is an absolute delight.

Though very much a luxury camp, King's Pool isn't ostentatious. The design is minimalist, not unlike its sister camp in the Linyanti, DumaTau. The main lodge is built on raised decking under thatch and opens at either side onto an extended viewing deck. There are lots of spots to relax and take in the stunning views, including a lovely pool which overlooks the lagoon. Beyond the public areas, the rooms at King's Pool are generous in size and all come with their own private plunge pools and day beds – this is a camp that just invites you to relax!

Accommodation

There are just nine rooms at King's Pool Camp, connected to the main lodge by raised boardwalks. They are located far enough apart to ensure a good level of privacy, while care has also been taken to ensure that each has a view of the lagoon.

The rooms are tented, with canvas sides, though the thatched roofs and tiled bathrooms give them a more permanent character. They are very spacious, both inside and out, with expansive viewing decks. There is a single honeymoon suite with a king-sized bed. Each tent has its own private viewing deck with plunge pool overlooking the lagoon, a separate lounge area, and sala. The rooms are fan-cooled.

Dining

King's Pool has a communal dining table, though meals are more often served individually at private tables. Mealtimes are flexible, as are the menus.

Due to the camp's remote and exposed location, we would not recommend King's Pool for families with young children.
