Kumbali Country Lodge is a 19th-century style ranch house situated within a huge forest reserve, part of a working dairy farm just outside Lilongwe. It’s a great spot if you want to spend a night or two at leisure and away from the city, enjoying forest walks and birding (one of the lodges’ resident dogs may well decide to accompany you on outdoor excursions!) on the lodge grounds.
Kumbali Country Lodge is a lovely spot to relax, with big gardens to explore and an outdoor swimming pool. The lodge has sixteen comfortable, fan-cooled rooms, furnished in a style that is traditional and stylish.
Garden and grounds aside, one of the main attractions of Kumbali Country Lodge is that it is very close to the President’s House, which means they rarely suffer electricity cuts! This, we’re told, may be one reason Madonna has chosen to stay here on past visits to Lilongwe!
Accommodation
Kumbali Country Lodge offers sixteen en-suite rooms, all with ceiling fans, private veranda, satellite TV and Wi-Fi. The rooms are spacious and furnished in a cosy, if simple style. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge in each room.

Kumbali has a lovely dining room, which serves home grown organic food straight from the farm. The bar has a good selection of spirits and wines.
