The Bushcamp Company runs six specialist safari camps in one of Africa's most beautiful wilderness areas, the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. It was here that the walking safari was first pioneered, and the emphasis at each of the bush camps is very much on experiencing the African wilderness up close and on foot.
Hidden away beneath a canopy of shady trees on the banks of the Manzi River, Kuyenda is perhaps the most basic of the Luangwa camps operated by the Bushcamp Company. Yet it's a charming camp, offering intimate accommodation in a remote, game-rich area of the park.
Kuyenda Camp is open from June to November. The Bushcamp Company's other camps in the South Luangwa include: Bilimungwe, Chindeni, Kapamba, Zungulila and Chamilandu.
Accommodation
Kuyenda is a highly intimate camp, accommodating no more than 8 guests in its four grass-thatch rondavels. Each chalet contains a large spacious bed with mosquito netting, and open-air bathroom with shower, toilet and wash basin. Furnishings are a little more spartan than at the other Bushcamp Company properties, but Kuyenda has a rustic charm in keeping with the brand. The rooms all overlook an open plain, where buffalo and other plains game can often be sighted.
