Kwetsani Camp

Kwetsani Camp is a lovely treetop lodge located on a private island 20km west of Mombo. It's remote location and emphasis on water activities make it ideal for those wanting a more leisurely safari.

Kwetsani Camp is a tiny, five-room camp located on its own private island in a remote concession of the Okavango. Raised on wooden stilts and tucked away within a canopy of fig and mangosteen trees, itis one of the most intimate and exclusive camps in the entire region.

Kwetsani Camp comprises just five stylish tree-house chalets, which are linked to the guest areas by high wooden platforms, providing a marvellous vantage point for views of the game-rich floodplains that surround the camp. This great location, combined with its unique treetop design, set Kwetsani apart from other camps in the Delta.

Due to the high floodwater levels in this part of the Delta, activities at Kwetsani are for the most part water-based. Day and night game drives are offered – during drives on nearby Hunda island, which is permanently dry, guests can hope to see lion, leopard (the island is noted for its leopard numbers), elephant and all manner of plains game – but the mokoro (canoe) safaris are the highlight of most stays at Kwetsani.

Kwetsani is not one of the Okavango's standout 'big game' safari camps, and during the green season activities can be somewhat limited (though Kwetsani is open all-year, unlike most camps in the Delta). Its remote location and emphasis on water-based activities, however, make Kwetsani ideal for those looking for a more leisurely safari. You won't spend your time frantically tracking wild dog or other rarities, as you will at many camps in the Delta; Kwetsani has an altogether more sedate pace.

Accommodation

Kwetsani has just five charming tree-house chalets, built with wood, glass, canvas and thatch. Located just below the treeline, the chalets are connected to the public areas of the lodge via raised wooden walkways, which lead down to the plunge pool, floodplain viewing deck and fire pit, all of which are at ground level.

The guest rooms are furnished with double or twin beds, comfortable chairs and a coffee table. En-suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor shower, and twin washbasins with hot running water. All of the rooms at Kwetsani have been positioned to make the most of the views of the floodplains. One of the rooms is a honeymoon chalet.
