The gorgeous Maison Souvannaphoum can quite literally claim to be a palace, or former palace at least, for this small boutique hotel was once the home of the late Prince Souvannaphoum. No longer a royal home, today the Souvannaphoum is owned by the Thai Angsana hotel group and has undergone extensive renovations during its conversion into a luxury hotel, but it retains much of its original charm and character. You can even choose to stay in Souvannaphoum’s former royal suite.
A blend of French colonial architecture and Laotian design, Maison Souvannaphoum is part of the historic fabric of Luang Prabang. It is situated right in the heart of the town’s Old Quarter, amid Buddhist temples and French-accented villas. The night market is only a few minutes’ walk away.
