Mandalay Hill Resort is a substantial five-star hotel situated directly beneath the legendary Mandalay Hill, from where it enjoys far-reaching views of the city’s many pagodas and the former Royal Palace. It is one of the oldest and best-established hotels in town, and while it’s showing its age a little in places, it offers a better location and a fuller range of facilities—swimming pool, multiple restaurants, tennis courts—than just about any other hotel in Mandalay. The newer Mandalay Sedona is a little slicker, but Mandalay Hill Resort is better located.
Mandalay Hill Resort has a very convenient location. Mandalay Hill and its famous Su Taung Pyi pagoda are located right at your doorstep (though it’s a long walk to the top!), while Mandalay’s other sights, including the former Royal Palace, Shwenandaw Kyaung and Kuthodaw Pagoda, are also within easy reach.
Accommodation
Mandalay Hill’s rooms and suites are attractively furnished with colourful local textiles. The standard category rooms are generously sized and feature the expected modern amenities, including air conditioning, satellite TV, in-room safe, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities. All 206 rooms enjoy views of the city or the hill.
Dining
Mandalay Hill offers a selection of restaurants, among them the Kinsana Garden Theatre, an open-air restaurant with an international buffet and cultural displays in the evening (high season only), and Yadabon Café, which serves an international buffet. In addition there is a Chinese restaurant, Ming’s. Light snacks are available in the Kipling Lounge.
