This is a great camp for those safari goers seeking a more off-the-beaten-track experience. It’s possible to combine a stay here with a few days at its sister camp, Laikipia Wilderness Camp. The drive between the camps takes around 5 hours.
Meru National Park encompasses 870 square kilometres of East African savannah, forest and marshland. It protects a wide variety of game, including elephant, buffalo, lesser kudu, gerenuk, hippo, crocodile, cheetah, leopard, lion, and both white and black rhino. It is a superb park for birding, with good numbers of water birds, woodland birds, and raptors. The guides at Meru Wilderness Camp are trained ornithologists.
