Mnarani Beach Cottages are located on the northern tip of Zanzibar, overlooking a beautiful stretch of beach and the tranquil fishing village of Nungwi.
Mnarani Beach offers excellent mid-range accommodation, suitable for both families and honeymooners looking for a relaxing break, and perfect after a Kilimanjaro climb or a hot, dusty safari. It doesn't offer the same levels of privacy and luxury as some of Zanzibar's more remote and intimate beach retreats, but it's among the best of the low-cost options on the island. Its location on Zanzibar's comparatively undeveloped northern coast, along with the fact that it only accommodates 70 guests even in high season, means you can expect a peaceful, crowd-free beach on which to relax, in stark contrast to the densely packed resorts on Zanzibar's western coast.
For those looking to do more than relax at the beach, there are plenty of activities available in the region surrounding Mnarani Beach Cottages, from snorkelling, diving, fishing and sailing to numerous interesting half and full day excursions on the island of Zanzibar.
Accommodation
Mnarani Beach Cottages offers a range of accommodation options. The 27 standard cottages include verandahs with sea or garden views, en-suite bathrooms, and traditional Zanzibari furnishings. In addition there are four spacious family cottages, each with two floors, balcony and verandah overlooking the sea, and a small kitchen.
The private "Mahaba" honeymoon cottage is more lavishly furnished, and ideal for honeymooners or those looking for an extra touch of luxury.
Dining
Meals are served in the open-air, under canvas, or on the beach around a barbecue. Fresh fish from the local market is usually the order of the day, but there are also plenty of vegetarian and meat options on the menu.
There is also an open air bar set in front of the beach with a spectacular view of the reef and dhows as they sail by from morning to sunset.

Children are welcome at Mnarani Beach Cottages. Those under the age of 3 stay free, while those under the age of 11 pay a reduced rate if sharing with an adult (US$30 at the time of writing)
