Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge is a small and intimate safari camp situated in the Balule Private Game Reserve, Kruger National Park. With only eight guest rooms (including two family lodges), Mohlabetsi has a wonderfully intimate feel, further helped by its secluded location under a grove of trees amid the thick bushveld for which the Kruger is famous. The game-viewing in this region of the Kruger is reliably good. The Balule Nature Reserve shares an unfenced border with the core of the Kruger National Park, ensuring a flow of game between the two, and Mohlabetsi Lodge has the added advantage of overlooking a small watering hole.
Accommodation
Just six double/twin rondavels and two larger family lodges. The rondavels are bright and airy, and furnished in a vibrant style. They have the expected modern amenities, including constant electricity and hot running water, and are fan-cooled (no air-con). The standard rooms are fairly spacious and have room for an extra sleeper bed if needed to accommodate a child. En-suite bathrooms have outdoor showers.
The family units feature two bedrooms each, one with double bed and two with twins, with room for an additional bed on request. Each room has its own bathroom en-suite with outdoor shower. The furnishings and amenities are similar to the rondavels.
Dining
Lovely homemade meals, with an emphasis on South African country fare, and incorporating lots of fresh ingredients from the lodge gardens, are served around the fire in the boma or under the stars on the lawn.
