Mountain Rock Lodge is a basic backpackers' and climbers' hotel located conveniently close to Mt Kenya, a short distance from Naro Moru and south of Nanyuki. It functions mainly as a base for those looking to climb Mt Kenya or explore Hell's Gate National Park.
Though the standard of accommodation offered is fairly basic, Mountain Rock Lodge is a very pleasant place to stay, and has a long history in the area. The immediate setting is lovely, with the lodge surrounded by pretty gardens, a spacious lawn and lake. The views of Mt Kenya are impressive on a clear day.

Accommodation
Mountain Rock Lodge has 28 rooms divided into superior and standard categories, with the main difference being that the superior rooms have a fireplace (a welcome addition in the cooler months, but for the most part not needed), large double beds, and a TV. The superior rooms can also be converted into triple rooms on request.
Mountain Rock Lodge also has a campsite, which is fully-serviced with shared kitchen and hot showers.
Dining
Tasty, home-cooked buffet meals are served in the lodge dining room or out on the lawn.
