Mwaleshi is a remote bush camp situated in the little-visited walking-only area of the North Luangwa National Park, on the banks of the perennial Mwaleshi River—a wild area known for its large game concentrations.
North Luangwa National Park gives you a chance to experience Africa at its most wild. There are no roads here, meaning game viewing is strictly on foot. Access to the park is only possible with one of the few safari operators granted permission. Mwaleshi Camp provides one of the few places to stay in this remote region.
Mwaleshi is a fairly simple camp, unpretentious in its appearance and offering only basic facilities (there is no electricity). As far as bush camps go, it's lovely, with cosy rooms and rustic living areas. But it is still a bush camp, and caters primarily to those looking to experience a remote safari away from the crowds, not luxury pampering.
Mwaleshi Camp is open during the dry season only (June to Oct).
Mwaleshi is the sister camp to Tafika Camp, which is located in the South Luangwa National Park. The two camps are often booked together.
Accommodation
Mwaleshi accommodates a maximum of eight guests in its hand-crafted reed chalets. The chalets are very cosy, with comfortable twin/double beds decked in vibrant quilts. They have en-suite bathrooms with flush loos but no running water (jugs are provided for use with the hand basins). There are two showers shared between the four rooms. All the rooms at Mwaleshi Camp have a view of the Mwaleshi River.
There is no electricity at Mwaleshi. Instead, lighting is provided by solar-powered storm lanterns.
Dining
The day starts with an early morning breakfast buffet, with hot and cold options, followed by a generous buffet lunch on return from the morning's game activities. Dinner is more formal, consisting of a three-course plated meal, typically served under the stars on the banks of the river, or in the sheltered dining area.
The food at Mwaleshi is great – you'll be surprised what the camp staff manage to whip up in this remote wilderness! Roast meats, fresh salads, plenty of fruit and tasty deserts all feature on the menu.
Activities

Child Policy
Mwaleshi accommodates children aged twelve and over. The camp's remote location means it really isn't suitable for families with younger children.
