Onguma Tree Top Camp is located in the private Onguma Game Reserve, which is just east of Etosha National Park. It is a small and intimate camp, built on wooden stilts within a copse of acacia trees, and overlooking one of the busiest watering holes in the reserve. The small size of the camp makes it ideal for a private family or small group safari. It can be booked on an exclusive basis.
Onguma Game Reserve encompasses over 50,000 acres of protected wilderness on the eastern boundaries of Etosha National Park. It is home to a rich variety of game, including a mix of plains game, big cats (lion, cheetah, and leopard are all present), and a small family of protected black rhino. Guests at Onguma Camp enjoy privileged access to the reserve as well as nearby Etosha National Park.
The main public area and lounge at Onguma Tree Top Camp opens at the front for spectacular views of the surrounding plains and waterhole, and also features canvas sides which can be let down temporarily when the weather necessitates. It has a lovely lounge where you can relax with a book and a drink, or just admire the view. There is a separate dining area and a small campfire boma.
Onguma Tree Top Camp is the sister camp to Onguma Plains Camp and Onguma Tented Camp. It is the smallest camp in the Onguma family, and by far our favourite. Though it isn't as luxurious as either of its sister camps and lacks some of their facilities, such as a pool, its small size and wonderful location—the waterhole in front of the camp is often busy with game—sets it apart.
Accommodation
Onguma Tree Top Camp offers just four thatched wooden rooms, all with canvas sides that can be raised on all four sides to make the most of the views. All of the rooms are well appointed, with crisp linen, down duvets, cosy throws to keep you warm at night, en-suite bathrooms, as well as a wonderful private outside shower. And should you need some quiet time, you have your own private verandah.
Dining
Onguma Tree Top's kitchen is open plan. Resident chef Taurei will spoil you with wonderful dishes cooked on an open fire.
