Situated on the shores of Lake Ampitabe, the Palmarium is a charming bungalow hotel that offers easy access to Akanin' ny Nofy (Palmarium Park) and the Pangalanes Canal.
Only accessible by boat, the peace and tranquillity of Palmarium is hard to find elsewhere and the staff really go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. There are lemurs that visit the hotel regularly and, whilst not fully tame, they add a wonderful experience for the visitor.
The Palmarium is open year-round and accessible only by boat. It is situated directly adjacent the private Palmarium Reserve, where several varieties of lemur can be sighted.
Accommodation
Each of the Palmarium’s 17 bungalow rooms enjoys a private verandah with hammocks and a view of the lake. Triple and quad rooms with private terrace are available, and ideal for families.
Dining
Meals are served in the thatched open-air dining room overlooking the gardens. The menus include a good mix of Madagascan and broader international cuisine. Expect lots of fish (freshly caught), locally-grown vegetables, and homemade bread cooked over a wood fire.
Expect, too, company from the lemurs!
