River Manor Country House & Spa is a beautiful country home set in the historic heart of Stellenbosch, among the most picturesque of the Western Cape's settler towns.
River Manor is a lovely hotel. While there’s no shortage of beautiful country hotels and lodges in the Stellenbosch region, River Manor is undoubtedly one of the best places to stay within the town itself. Comprised of two Victorian homes set in a leafy avenue in the heart of town, a short stroll from its many cafes, galleries and museums, it’s the perfect urban retreat. Family-owned and managed, there’s a real emphasis on personal service at River Manor, and the atmosphere, though fairly formal, isn’t nearly as stuffy as at some of the other country homes in the region.
River Manor also offers great facilities, including a spa, bar and restaurant, and a swimming pool set within walled gardens. It’s a wonderfully relaxing environment, where you can wake up to breakfast served in the garden under a canopy of orange and lemon trees, and spend the rest of the day at leisure by the pool or in exploring Stellenbosch and the Winelands.
Stellenbosch is within easy reach of the many attractions of South Africa’s Western Cape, including Cape Town, Paarl, Hermanus and Gordon’s Bay.
Accommodation
There are eighteen rooms at River Manor, all of them uniquely furnished. The décor reflects the age of the house, with features including old oak beds and Victorian bathtubs, but the rooms are also equipped with the expected modern amenities, including satellite TV and air-conditioning. The complimentary sherry and port trays are a very welcome addition!
Dining
A light continental breakfast is served outdoors by the pool. Breakfast or lunch picnics are also available upon request if you’re heading out on activities. River Manor doesn’t offer a dinner menu, though light meals are available throughout the day.
