Roho ya Selous allows for a mix of activities, including game-viewing in open-sided vehicles, boat safaris and guided walks, to fully appreciate the varied landscapes of the Selous. The Selous’ acacia prairies, vast savannah plains and wetland areas host a diversity of wildlife, with highlights including the elusive wild dog, as well as plentiful lion and elephant. The waters are home to large numbers of crocodile and hippo while the plains teem with giraffe, zebra, eland and kudu. Nzerakera Lake also provides great opportunities to fish for catfish and tiger fish (on catch-and-release basis).
Accommodation
Roho ya Selous offers eight large safari tents spread out amongst the trees for privacy. The colour scheme is dominated by cool greys and greens with stone floors, canvas roofs and reed walls used to divide the bedroom and bathroom. Contemporary wall hangings, stylish furniture and air conditioning add a modern touch to Roho ya Selous, but in style and atmosphere this is very much a classic East African safari camp. One side of each tent is open to the outside, which adds a wonderful ‘bush’ atmosphere! The tents are screened with fine mesh to keep insects out. Bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers, his & hers sinks, and complimentary eco-friendly toiletries.
