Opened in 2016, Safarihoek Lodge is part of the Natural Selection brand, a collection of luxury safari lodges located in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. In keeping with other Natural Selection properties, it offers an upmarket safari experience at competitive rates. This is a great choice for those travellers wanting to enjoy a quiet safari in a private reserve without the prohibitive costs sometimes associated with such an experience!
Safarihoek’s greatest advantage is its location. Positioned at the centre of the Etosha Heights Reserve, it enjoys fabulous views of the surrounding plains and bush, as well as a large water hole located immediately in front of the camp. Owing to its location in a private reserve, vehicle traffic is very limited, and so you can expect few disturbances while game-viewing, whether you are exploring the reserve on a game drive or enjoying the views from the comfort of camp.
Sharing a 60-kilometre border with Etosha National Park, Etosha Heights protects a diversity of game, including elephant, giraffe, cheetah, sable antelope, zebra, kudu, aardvark, and gemsbok. Lion have recently been reintroduced to the reserve and numbers are expected to quickly increase. The reserve is most famous for its high numbers of endangered black and white rhino, and tracking them with your guide is likely to be a highlight of your stay here. As the lodge is situated outside the national park, walking safaris and night game drives are permitted. In addition to guided game activities, Safarihoek also offers a fabulous multi-level wildlife hide overlooking the waterhole in front of the camp, allowing guests to observe and photograph game without distraction in between activities.
Safarihoek is approx. 2 hours’ drive from the southern gate of Etosha National Park. While it is possible to access the national park from Safarihoek, the guided activities take place exclusively within the Etosha Heights Reserve.
