This Savoy Hotel, Yangon, is a delightful colonial-era boutique hotel, providing an oasis of calm in an otherwise bustling city. Situated just outside the city centre, the Savoy is beautifully furnished with teak furniture and antiques, and set in lush gardens. It is similar in style and appearance to the more expensive Governor’s Residence, but we find it to be the better option of the two, offering a more intimate and, dare we say, authentic, atmosphere.
Accommodation
The Yangon Savoy Hotel has just 24 spacious deluxe rooms and 6 suites, all comfortably furnished with teak furniture and polished wooden floors. Most of the rooms have a view of the pool and garden from their ceiling-to-floor windows. Amenities include air-conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, direct dial phone and in-room safe. The suites feature then same amenities as the deluxe rooms, but are almost twice the size and have private living areas.
Dining
Kipling’s Restaurant offers a blend of Asian and Western cuisine, served either indoors or on the terrace overlooking the pool, with a view of Yangon’s most famous landmark, the Shwedagon Pagoda. There’s also a French-style Bistro, Le Bistrot, which serves a good mix of French and Italian cuisine.
