Serengeti Serena Lodge occupies a stunning location on a tree-clad ridge in the Western Corridor, from where it commands fabulous views of the Serengeti plains.
Drawing its inspiration from the circular ‘rondavel’ dwellings and winding paths of a traditional Masai village, Serengeti Serena Lodge features thickly-thatched, stone-built rooms, spaciously set amongst groves of indigenous trees.
The circular bar, its roof supported by massive carved figures of Masai warriors, maidens and elders, looks out over a large swimming pool towards the miles of savannah that lie below.
Serengeti Serena Lodge is a large hotel, with 66 rooms. At full capacity it can feel busy, and doesn’t offer the intimacy of a luxury bush camp. Its location, however, in the heart of the Seronera region, is superb, and so too are its facilities. We use Serengeti Serena regularly in our small group safaris. It also works brilliantly for families, due to its relaxed child policy and safe location.
Accommodation
Serengeti Serena Lodge has 66 rooms in total, all of them with full en-suite facilities. The rooms are stone and thatch rondavels, designed to resemble a traditional Maasai home, albeit with a few additional creature comforts such as air-con! The bathrooms, with their natural stone features, are lovely.
Dining
The open-air dining area is built on two levels and enjoys great views of the surrounding savannah. Meals are typically served buffet style.
