Serengeti Sopa Lodge is set in the Nyarboro Hills, on a sparsely-forested kopje overlooking a vast expanse of savannah. It is a large lodge, with 73 rooms and a wealth of facilities, and not an intimate bush camp, but those looking for a comfortable lodge with luxury amenities will find Sopa Lodge appealing. The service here is meticulous, the atmosphere generally relaxed, and the amenities very good. Just don’t expect the privacy of a luxury bush camp!
As well as offering good value, Serengeti Sopa Lodge has the advantage of a great location in the southern region of the Serengeti, where you can expect to see the annual wildebeest migration during April/May.
Accommodation
Serengeti Sopa Lodge offers 73 rooms, all identical except for four lavish two-storey suites. The rooms are simply furnished, eschewing the standard 'colonial’-themed furnishings or traditional African decor that are a feature of so many safari camps. Carpets and bright local fabrics give a touch of colour to the rooms. Furnishings in each room include writing desk and two large queen-size beds. One nice touch is the wide windows, which open out onto a private balcony with a view of the savannah.
The suites are similar, only much larger and equipped with private lounge as well as king-size bed.
