Justly famous as one of the very best luxury lodges in South Africa, Singita Lebombo Lodge is located on a huge private concession in the south-east of Kruger National Park, close to the border with Mozambique. This territory encompasses four eco-zones, ranging from savannah plains to densely wooded areas, and contains within it a rich variety of wildlife, including an exceptionally large concentration of big cats and a small population of rhino.
As well as superb game-viewing, this region of the Kruger, with its clear, unpolluted skies, also offers wonderful opportunities for star-gazing, and Singita Lebombo has been very much designed with this in mind. The lodge's unique, modernist glass box suites allow for spectacular views of the African night sky as you sleep. Each of the rooms also has a wide balcony where, weather permitting, a star bed can be set up to allow you to sleep under the stars.
Singita Lebombo stands out from other African safari camps for its clean, contemporary design. Each suite is super-luxurious with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for expansive river and bush views, cosy lounge areas equipped with fireplaces for the chilly winter evenings, and gorgeous bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers. Other facilities include swimming pool, gym, spa and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The activities available at Singita Lebombo extend beyond the usual 4x4 game drives to also include guided walking safaris, night astronomy drives and mountain biking.
Singita Lebombo has a sister lodge, Singita Sweni, also located within the private Lebombo Concession. Small and intimate, it offers just six riverside suites.
Accommodation
The main lodge at Singita Lebombo comprises 15 cliffside suites, while the satellite Singita Sweni Lodge has six riverside suites. Built almost entirely of glass, the cliffside suites are just stunning. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow for marvellous views, while at the same time giving the rooms a decidedly modern feel, which is also helped by the contemporary décor. They are hugely spacious, with private lounge areas (complete with fireplaces), private balcony with daybed, and en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower. All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with the expected amenities (mini bar, safe, telephone, iPod dock, Wi-Fi).
Dining
Meals are usually served outdoors on the timber-deck, which overlooks the N’wanetsi River. There is also a well-stocked bar and an open-air boma.
