Resembling a turn-of-the-century east African ranch house, Singita Sasakwa is an upmarket safari lodge with a wonderful hill-top location in the private Grumeti Reserves. The marvellous panorama that is the Serengeti plains stretches before Sasakwa, and every effort has been made to celebrate the spectacular views.
The main ranch house includes a glamorous dining room, comfortable bar and lounge, garden room, family television room, quiet library, wood-panelled billiards room and wine cellar. The interiors are beautifully furnished: Venetian mirrors and crystal chandeliers meet Congolese artefacts and leather armchairs – and virtually every one of the rooms opens onto the wide wrap-around verandah to offer unrivalled views of the lush lawns, main pool and the wilderness beyond.
Sasakwa Lodge also features two tennis courts (clay and grass), a gymnasium, spa with steam room, a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi. There is an equestrian centre only a few minutes' walk from Sasakwa that is home to sixteen well-bred horses that can be taken out on riding safaris.
Accommodation
Singita Sasakwa Lodge has seven luxurious cottages offering between one and four bedrooms. All cottages are en-suite with a bath and shower room and a separate guest toilet. Each cottage has a dressing room, private living room, verandah with spotting scope and garden. Facilities include a heated plunge pool, a personal bar and fridge, electronic safe, air-conditioning, overhead fan, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, wireless internet access and a fireplace.
Dining
There are several possible dining venues at Sasakwa Lodge, including the romantic candle-lit dining room, the front lawn, garden room, or the lounge and library. Fine wines, champagnes, cognacs, cigarettes and cigars are provided to accompany meals.
