Skeleton Coast Safaris:
Skeleton Coast Safaris has been run by the Schoeman family for over 25 years and specialises in taking guests to the most remote wilderness areas of Namibia. Each safari is hosted by a Schoeman family member, who also fulfils the role of guide, pilot, driver and host. This unique feature, combined with the Schoemans' lifetime experience and passion for this fascinating part of the world, has gained them international recognition with discerning travellers who want that 'once in a lifetime' safari experience.

Accommodation information
Guests are exclusively accommodated in three fully equipped private owned desert camps. The first camp is near the Huab River in Damaraland, the second under the Camelthron trees in Hoarusib River Valley in Kaokoland, and the third and last camp to be visited during the safari is on the perennial Kurene River near the border with Angola.

You’ll be provided with comfortable igloo tents, each with en-suite bucket showers and chemical toilets. The camps are small but very comfortable.

Activities available
A major feature of the safaris is the flight, which provides an outstanding bird’s-eye view of shipwrecks scattered along the coast, diverse ever-changing geological formations and the refuges of desert-dwelling animals such as the endangered black rhino and desert-adapted elephant. Besides the desolate coast with its roaring dunes, highlights include the Ugab rock formations, the colourful red lavas and yellow sand-stones of the Huab environs, ancient Bushman rock engravings, and the living ‘fossil’ tree, Welwitschia mirabilis. There is also a visit to a settlement of the nomadic Himba people, who still live and dress according to ancient customs.
