One of the Grande Dames of Southeast Asia, the Sofitel Legend Metropole dates back to 1901 and has in the 100+ years since it opened managed to maintain its status as the very best place to stay in Hanoi. It consists of two separate wings, one old and one new, which between them house 364 beautifully-presented guest rooms and suites alongside a wealth of facilities, including a first-class spa, large courtyard pool, gym and two of Hanoi’s finest restaurants. The two wings together form a large complex, straddling Hanoi’s Old Town and French Quarter.
The main attractions of central Hanoi are all within easy walking distance of the Metropole Sofitel. Explore the 36 streets of Hanoi’s Old Town, each named after an associated craft (gold, silk, vermicelli, paper making, etc); shop for the latest fashions on Hang Gai Street; or take a peaceful stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake. The city is at your doorstep.
Accommodation
The Metropole Sofitel’s 364 guest rooms and suites are split between the original Metropole Wing and the newer Opera Wing. It’s a struggle to choose between the two. All rooms are sumptuously decorated and feature the latest mod-cons. The older rooms in the Metropole Wing better reflect the age of the building, though they retain few of their original features. The Opera Wing offers the most spacious rooms, though you’ll have the book a suite to get all the advantages. The top-floor Club Rooms offer marvellous views of the French Quarter.
Dining
The Metropole Legend Sofitel offers a selection of dinner venues, including a classic French restaurant, Le Beaulieu, Italian-inspired Angelina, and a traditional Vietnamese menu in the Spice Garden. All are popular with visitors and well-heeled locals alike.
