Sokha Beach Resort

Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Sokha Beach Resort

Sokha Beach Resort is a newly-built four-star beach resort situated just outside Sihanoukville. It offers private beach access and facilities that rival those of the better-established Independence Hotel.

Sokha is a modern four-star resort situated on a long stretch of private beach just outside Sihanoukville. The largest hotel in the area, it comprises almost 400 rooms, several restaurants and bars, two swimming pools, gym and spa, and is spread across two sites on opposite ends of the same beach (a shuttle service between either end is provided).

The main building, where we stayed on our last visit to Sokha, has two wings and four floors. All of the rooms in this building look out onto the beach and ocean from private balconies (unless on the ground floor). The beach is just a few steps away from the rooms.

Sokha is a good four-star beach resort – it’s too large and busy to be called a luxury resort, but it’s a great option for those looking for good beach access and facilities. The beach here is pristine and totally private. The other big four-star beach hotel in town, the Independence, has a bit more character than Sokha, but Sokha offers better facilities, including a dedicated water sports centre.

Sihanoukville is a few minutes’ tuk tuk ride away from Sokha Beach Resort.

Accommodation

Sokha Resort’s 392 rooms and suites are split between two main sites and divided across several categories, ranging from standard superior rooms to delightful over-water chalets. The standard rooms in the main building are generously-sized and attractively furnished. They enjoy private balconies overlooking the ocean, and amenities such as air-con, cable TV, internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, safety box and minibar.

A large complex with two wings, Sokha has been designed such that most rooms enjoy a view of the ocean, but there are some which only overlook the garden. We can advise on the best rooms - just ask.

Dining

There’s a good selection of restaurants at Sokha Resort. The Deck Tapas Bar, located by the beach with great views, serves a mix of international cuisine, while the Japanese-influenced Lemongrass restaurant serves delicious seafood. The Lotus has a fine international buffet and is open for breakfast and dinner. The poolside Champa Café serves light refreshments all day, while Khmer and Asian food can be enjoyed in the Turmeric restaurant—an open-air venue.

The restaurants are located at different sites around the hotel, and a shuttle service is provided to get between them (you can also walk along the beach).
