Teremok Lodge is a stylish 5-star boutique hotel situated close to the beach in the resort town of Umhlanga, just north of Durban. Originally the holiday home of the Vladykin mining family, Teremok (in Russian, “small hideaway”) was converted into a luxury hotel in 2003. The current owner, Debbie Davidson, has done a great job of transforming the old 1960s home into an up-to-date boutique guesthouse, without sacrificing too much of its original charm.
Teremok is magnificently positioned, occupying pride of place on the prestigious Marine Drive, directly overlooking the ocean (the rooms enjoy ocean views from their balconies) and only a few minutes’ walk from the beach. Also within walking distance are the shops and restaurants of Umhlanga Village.
