Day 1-3: Arrive Nairobi; 3-day Karisia mobile safari (fully inclusive basis)
You will be met this morning at Nairobi international airport or at your Nairobi hotel and transferred to Wilson Airport to catch the mid-morning flight to Nanyuki airstrip. On arrival in Nanyuki, you will be met and transferred to the Laikipia region to meet your Samburu guides and camel team, ready to start your 3-night private safari.
Your itinerary does not follow a fixed route, but rather will be tailored to suit your individual requirements and preferences, in terms of both the distances walked and the areas visited. A typical day would start with a hearty breakfast, followed by an 8-12km walk during which time the Samburu will move the camp ready for your arrival for lunch. Afternoons can be spent swimming, fishing, or having lessons in tracking animals from the Samburu. Evenings are spent around the campfire enjoying a delicious three course meal. There are lots of activities to keep kids entertained, including fishing, tracking, making bows and arrows, swimming, boating in the rivers, rock climbing, and more. Visits to schools, bomas and markets can also be arranged.
Game is shy of walkers so you will encounter the animals at a distance. You can hope to see reticulated giraffe, elephant, a variety of antelope species, common zebra and Grevy’s zebra as well as numerous species of birds, reptiles and amphibians. Wild dog are present in the Laikipia region, but sightings are rare. The walks do not take place in the core game-viewing regions, but rather in the more remote parts of Laikipia/Samburu.
Day 4-7: 4 nights Lantana Hotel (2 bedroomed suite, half board basis)
After breakfast at camp, say goodbye to your guides and camp staff. You will be driven to Nanyuki airstrip for your flight to Nairobi, where you will be met by our driver and transferred to Nairobi International Airport in time to catch the afternoon flight to Mombasa.
On arrival, transfer to Lantana Galu Beach Hotel for 4 nights in a two-bedroomed suite on half-board basis.
Lantana is a lovely, all-suite hotel set on a beautiful stretch of beach south of Diani, Mombasa. The hotel is set in verdant tropical gardens which lead all the way down to the ocean. This is a terrific option for families wanting the privacy of a beach lodge with the facilities of a high-end resort.
The facilities at Lantana include two swimming pools, a restaurant, café, gym and massage parlour. A wide range of activities are offered (most at an extra cost) in and around the hotel, including diving, windsurfing, deep sea fishing, quad biking, micro-lighting and cycling.
Each of Lantana’s suites is designed in an open, contemporary style with spacious living areas that open onto private terraces.
