Day 1: Arrive Maun; transfer to Gomoti Plains Camp, Okavango Delta
You will be met on arrival in Maun and assisted onto the flight to the Okavango Delta, where your driver/guide will be waiting to greet you at the airstrip for the driven transfer to Gomoti Plains Camp (3 nights, fully-inclusive basis). After lunch at camp, embark on an afternoon 4x4 game drive or boat safari.
Gomoti Plains Camp
Named after the Gomoti trees which line the waterways of the Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains Camp enjoys a fabulous location in a private concession situated south-east of Moremi Game Reserve. Opened in 2017, Gomoti provides access to a remote corner of the Delta where the wildlife is rich and prolific – large numbers of lion, buffalo and wild dog have been filmed in the region.Gomoti Plains Camp offers ten luxury tents (including two family tents), all fully en-suite with indoor and outdoor shower, flush toilet and double hand basins. The camp is raised on wooden decks and all rooms overlook the Gomoti River from their private verandahs.
Gomoti’s location in a private concession area offers exclusivity as well as great game viewing.
Activities include day and night game drives, walking safaris (at the manager’s discretion), mokoro excursions and motor boat safaris.
Day 2-3: Game-viewing in Gomoti region
Explore the Gomoti River system on a mix of guided activities – 4x4 game drives, motorboat and mokoro safaris, and guided walks.
Game activities will typically take place in the early morning and afternoon, returning to camp for lunch and rest during the midday heat. Full-day activities, however, can also be arranged on request.
Day 4: Transfer to Machaba Camp, Okavango Delta
Breakfast at Gomoti Plains and light aircraft transfer to Machaba Camp (3 nights, fully-inclusive basis), in the eastern Okavango Delta.
Machaba Camp
Machaba is a classic East African-style safari camp set in the Khwai concession, in the eastern Okavango Delta, immediately adjacent Moremi Game Reserve. Machaba, which means Sycamore Fig in the local Setswana language, sits beneath a canopy of riverine trees, looking out onto the Khwai River and Moremi Game Reserve beyond. The views are marvellous, and so too is the game-viewing!Machaba offers just ten luxury tents—eight twins and two family units—situated in the treeline overlooking the river. Each of the tents is en-suite with an outdoor shower, and features a comfortable living area. Facilities include a swimming pool, library, bar and restaurant.
Evening meals are served in the dining mess tent, or outside under the stars and tree canopy.
Game drives into the Kwai Concession and the famous Moremi Game reserve are offered at Machaba.
Day 5-6: Game-viewing in Khwai Concession and Moremi Game Reserve
Continue your exploration of the Okavango region, with game drives and boat safaris in the private Khwai Concession and the adjacent Moremi Game Reserve.
Day 7: International departure
After an early morning game drive and breakfast at Machaba Camp, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft transfer to Maun.
In Maun, connect with your international flight home.
