Day 1: Arrive Maun (Maun Lodge)
You will be met on arrival at Maun Airport and transferred to Maun Lodge for one night. The rest of the evening is at leisure.
Maun Lodge has a pleasant bar area, where you may meet with other members of your group as they arrive this evening.
Day 2: Deception Valley Reserve (camping)
Your safari guide will meet you at Maun Lodge after breakfast, ready for a 7:30am departure.
The first day of your safari will see you journey south to Deception Valley Reserve (180km, 4 hours), a remote game reserve situated on the northern outskirts of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.
On arrival, you’ll help set up camp and then break for a leisurely lunch, after which there will be a short briefing before you set off into the bush for the first of what will be many game drives! Late afternoon, return to camp for dinner.
Day 3: Deception Valley Reserve (camping)
Continue your exploration of the Deception Valley Reserve. As well as guided game drives, today will also give you an opportunity to explore the reserve on a guided bush walk, accompanied by San Bushmen game trackers.
They will share their formidable knowledge of the arid Kalahari and its wildlife with you, as you explore the reserve at a gentle pace.
Day 4-6: Central Kalahari Game Reserve (camping)
The first of many early starts, as you wake around dawn to watch the sunrise while breakfast is served!
After breakfast, pack up camp and continue your journey south into the Central Kalahari proper.
The next two days will see you explore the northern region of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This is the largest reserve in Botswana, and boasts a spectacular diversity of wildlife and scenery. Highlights of your visit will include the pans of Passarge Valley and the vast grasslands and dunes that define the region’s northern plains – both offering spectacular landscapes and excellent game-viewing.
Camping will be at fixed campsites with bush ablutions. Depending on the judgement of your guide, you may move between more than one camp so as to cover a range of terrain.
Day 7: Makgadikgadi (camping)
Enjoy a final early morning game drive in the Kalahari before travelling north to Makgadikgadi National Park (180km; 4-5 hours), arriving in time for lunch at Boteti River Camp.
This afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, following a course along the banks of the Boteti River.
Day 8-10: Okavango Delta (camping)
Today will see you journey into what is undoubtedly Botswana’s most famous wilderness area, the Okavango Delta (210km, 5 hours’ drive).
At the southern reaches of the Delta, you’ll swap the vehicle for a mokoro boat and spend a leisurely day exploring the waterways of the Delta with experienced polers from the local community. Quietly drifting through papyrus swamps and reed-lined lagoons of the Delta in your dugout canoe, you’ll gain a real appreciation for this most unique environment.
In the evening you’ll set up wild camp on an island in the Delta.
The next two days will be spent in the same way, with a mixture of mokoro boat and island walking safaris, each allowing you to explore different aspects of the Delta environment. On day 10, you'll return to a campsite near Maun.
NB. On day 8 you will leave your main bag with the vehicles and carry only a small pack with your essentials on to the island, as the transfer canoes cannot carry large cases.
Day 11-13: Moremi Game Reserve (camping)
Pack up camp and travel into Moremi Game Reserve, the public reserve at the heart of the Delta (50km, 1.5 hours). Here you set up camp in a community campsite located just outside the reserve, from where you’ll spend the next three days exploring Moremi’s vast grasslands on morning and afternoon game drives.
Moremi is considered by many to be the most exceptional area of the Delta region, where all the major habitats and eco-zones of the Okavango are conserved.
After two nights in Eastern Moremi, you’ll move to a private campsite in Western Moremi (80km, 3 to 4 hours transfer with game drive), where you’ll be able to explore the drier regions of the Delta.
Day 14-16: Chobe National Park (camping)
Continue your journey north-east, departing the Delta region and entering Chobe National Park.
You’ll spend the next three days exploring the park, starting in the dry and arid Savuti region, where bull elephants roam the plains, before making your way north-east to the Chobe River, which will provide a primary point of interest for your game-viewing activities.
Camping will be in private campsites with bush ablutions, first in the region of Savuti (day 14), then closer to the riverfront in northern Chobe (days 15 & 16).
Day 17-18: Victoria Falls (PheZulu Lodge)
After a morning game drive in Chobe, cross the border into Zimbabwe and continue to the town of Victoria Falls. On arrival, check-in at PheZulu Lodge, or similar, for one night.
This afternoon, you can visit Victoria Falls (optional, with entry fee payable locally but transfer included), before returning to your hotel. The rest of your stay is at leisure. There is a huge amount of activities available in Victoria Falls, from white water rafting and canoeing in the Zambezi Gorge to microlight flights over the falls. Activities can be arranged locally or in advance.
Your tour ends on day 18. We can help with your onward transfer arrangements or post-tour accommodation if required.
