Hadrian's Wall Coast to Coast Trek

From the estuary west of Carlisle to the North Sea coast east of Newcastle lies a cross section of spectacular English countryside. This will be the location for a demanding trek which will see you cross Britain from coast to coast, trekking across farmland, through forests, and over hills and high moorlands, and enjoying amazing views of England along the way!

Outline Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrival – Overnight at Crown Hotel, Wetheral

    Make your own way to the Crown Hotel in Wetheral, just outside Carlisle. Here you will meet your trek leaders and check-in at the hotel prior to dinner.

  2. Day 2: Bowness-on-Solway to Low Crosby

    After a hearty breakfast at the Crown Hotel, a short bus transfer will take us to the small village of Bowness-on-Solway, on the shore of the Solway Firth, start point for our coast-to-coast challenge.

  3. Day 3: Low Crosby to Cawfields Quarry

    After breakfast we return by minibus/coach to the village of Low Crosby to begin the second day of our trek.

  4. Day 4: Cawfields Quarry to Wall

    After breakfast, our transport will return us to Cawfield Quarry to begin what is perhaps the most demanding day of the challenge.

  5. Day 5: Wall to Heddon and the River Tyne

    After breakfast we will pack our bags and leave Derwent Manor for the last time. Our transport will return us to Wall where we will begin the trek to Heddon-on-the-Wall.

  6. Day 6: Heddon-on-the-Wall to Newcastle City Centre and on to South Shields

    After breakfast, our final day will begin with a short transfer back to Tyne Country Park and the beginning of the trek through historic Newcastle.

  7. Day 7: Departure

    Your tour ends this morning in Newcastle after breakfast at the hotel.
