Botswana Scheduled Group Safaris

Botswana has traditionally had a reputation for being amongst the most expensive safari destinations in Africa, with an emphasis on luxury travel. While this is largely true for private, tailor-made safaris to Botswana, guided group safaris offer a much more affordable way to explore the country, and are particularly well-suited to solo travellers or couples who enjoy the camaraderie that comes with travelling in a group.

In Botswana, scheduled group safaris may be either camping or lodge-based. Camping safaris will see you travel with an experienced guide and camp crew as you set up camp in different locations. You'll pitch camp in a mixture of public and private campsites, and sleep in comfortable dome tents with camp beds. On some camping safaris, you may be expected to pitch in and help around camp to a limited degree, while others are fully-serviced.

Accommodated safaris will see you stay in mid-range safari lodges while travelling in a shared 4x4 with other guests. These offer a great-value alternative to a private lodge-based safari.

Scheduled group safaris to Botswana will typically focus on the famous, most-visited wilderness regions of northern Botswana, namely Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, though longer programmes are available that also incorporate the Central Kalahari and Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans in central Botswana – see, for example, our Complete Botswana mobile camping safari. There are also a number of group departures that allow you to combine Botswana with neighbouring countries Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia, including otherwise difficult-to-access regions such as Zambia’s Liuwa Plain National Park. These programmes start and end in Victoria Falls, where several borders meet.
